Sobriety prayer2/29/2024 “Many people live their lives by circumstance rather than on purpose.” By not taking action, you’re allowing your life to be dictated by external forces. Not taking action is its own form of action. ![]() It means noticing the fear and carrying it with you as you take action, despite it. The courage to take an appropriate action does not mean the absence of fear. You can also control whether or not you stay in that job. You cannot control the actions of a bad manager, but you can control how you respond. Rather than pointing fingers, having the courage to look inward allows you to take responsibility for the things you do have control over. Have you ever found yourself complaining about a bad manager? This outwardly directed blame keeps us focused on the things we do not have control over – the manager’s behavior. We can claim we are a helpless victim of circumstance, or we can take ownership of the things we do have control over. ![]() When faced with an obstacle, we can have one of two reactions. In the Serenity Prayer, courage means having the strength and determination to do what is within your control. This is where the third virtue in the Serenity Prayer comes in. “Stop trying to control how you feel, and instead take control of what you can do” Russ Harris, one of the key thinkers in the practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), states: Fighting with something only gives it more power over you. These thoughts only serve to strengthen the anxiety. “I can’t feel this way!… I need to feel happy… oh no, am I getting anxious!?” If you find yourself spinning out of control, fighting with your anxiety is also counterproductive. Instead, it can further entrench the problem by putting us into a state of anxiety rather than a state of serenity.Īlthough anxiety does help keep us safe by maintaining high alert for threats, it is no longer useful when spinning out of control. Worrying about things outside of our control does not actually help solve the problem. “…worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.” Mary Schmich illustrates this when she states : A state of anxiety pulls us into not accepting reality as it is and trying to change it through constant worrying. We spend a lot of our lives worrying about things outside our control. In the Serenity Prayer, acceptance means letting go of things outside of your control. The first step in developing serenity is acceptance. Although it takes work, the Serenity Prayer gives us direction on how to develop it. Learning to adopt a serene perspective takes practice. “Learning to sit with ambiguity can be a very important start at a life liberated from anxiety-and the way to do it is to resist the urge to chase answers to questions that may actually be unanswerable.” Wilson in the book, Things Might Go Terribly, Horribly Wrong: Let’s take a closer look at the meaning of these virtues from the Serenity Prayer and how you can apply them to your own life.Īs described by Kelly G. The Serenity Prayer is based on four virtues: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Written by the American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, It is most commonly quoted as the following: Let’s take a look at the Serenity Prayer, itself. It also means being able to know when things are within your control and when things are beyond your control. The Serenity Prayer means letting go of situations beyond your control and taking action toward things within your control. What is the meaning of the Serenity Prayer? If you or someone you know is struggling, check out my resource page for suggestions on how to find help. It is useful for persons in recovery from addiction, but also for anyone struggling with situations beyond their control. The Serenity Prayer is packed full of meaning and psychologically validated wisdom in just a few short lines. Although I was raised Roman Catholic and still practice occasionally, I appreciate the depth of the Serenity Prayer from a psychological perspective. ![]() Lately, I’ve been thinking about the meaning of the Serenity Prayer. Macbooster 7 cmac2/29/2024 ![]() NComputing Inc., a client virtualization solutions provider, has unveiled a new desktop-as-a-servic e (DaaS) solution aimed towards small to mid-sized businesses (SMBs) and delivered through service providers. The new solution is geared towards helping small businesses run their applications. Our A-Trust terminals work fine under ‘per device’ licensing so it seems like we are going to need a hybrid of the two.Įssentially what happens is that everything looks fine until the server is out of its 160 day grace period. EDIT: This is probably an NComputing rant, not a VDI rant. After a server reboot the 元00 terminals do not connect again and just crash out. The 2 obvious culprits may be the 8GB of RAM which is for some reason causing it, or the vSpace software which is driver based at the system level. I discovered this by chance when I tested our only 元50 on the same system. nComputing tech support reports that they have not heard of any other customer complaining about random BSOD's on Windows 7 64-bit so I am at a loss. Instead of just crashing out like the 元00, the 元50 displays a licensing error. You should now have a working licensing server with licenses installed. The final step is pointing your existing terminals at the license server. One would thing this would be easy to do like in Server 2008, but Microsoft has changed how it works. The first way is a new discovery and I think the preferred way as it allows you to specify multiple licencing servers and Cal’s. This will help with the NComputing debacle. Method two is a bit of a hack but actually works pretty well if you have only a single licensing setup. I have always installed NComputing X550 on Windows XP (Service Pack 2) since 2011.Under the Deployment Overview area, select Edit Deployment Properties from the Tasks menu.Navigate to the Remote Desktop Services navigation area.If using method 1, remember to remove the settings if your server has been using method 2. When the Chief (played by Dolph Sweet) died, the cast's heart just wasn't in it anymore. This show never jumped because it had nowhere to jump from. When Nell Carter blew ass during a very serious scene.Īfter the first side of beef Nell Carter ate. Thank god Grandpa and Sam were the only link to Nell's old life. They cleaned house literally with the Kinisky clan. The whole Julie pregnancy was barely played out. That's how I think it should have ended, with a 2 parter like that. Nell would have either agreeed with Joey and Grandpa to move to NYC or Addy would have surprised Nell and moved in when she didn't get the job afterall and had no place to live and since there were empty room now she would love to live there. Part 2 would close the series with Julie giving birth, Jonathan and her moving to San Jose, and Sam packing for College. That's how part 1 would end, or Nell feeling bad Addy is packing up and then Julie goes into Labor. Part 1 Sam would NOT have the scholarship problem, instead Nell finds out Addy got a job in NY. Part 1 and 2 could have stayed EXACTLY the way "Sam Goes To College" played out, but early into part 2, Sam gets into college, or the whole 2 parter could have all been about changes happening VERY QUICKLY. Sam Goes To College, I think, PLUS events that led into the New York move should have ended the series in season 5. Who knows, we may have had "The Purse Snatcher" as the series finale had they cancelled it after season 5 after the finale as they did in season 6. Volkswagen based dune buggy kits2/28/2024 And most excitingly, the Meyers Manx company is still making and selling their iconic kits, as well as some new ones. Today, genuine Meyers Manx dune buggies demand a premium over the other models. He did sue one manufacturer but lost.Ĭlones popped up all over the world, and by some estimates, there may have been as many as 300 different dune buggy kits offered. Unfortunately, Meyers hadn't thought to get the body design trademarked. The fiberglassing process made it easy: buy one Manx kit, create a mold using that kit, then start making them yourself. Other companies saw how popular the Manx was and literally copied it. On top of that, he started to notice more and more dune buggies on the roads. He had trouble keeping up with demand, and a race injury one year in hampered production even further. He credits some of the design to Mickey Mouse: in the comics, the little rodent cartoon drove small cars with big wheels, and a young Bruce wanted to drive those cars "right off the page." He knew the design needed to be happy and fun, just like a day at the beach. At 144 pages, the book is a practical guide to the work involved in building a road-worthy VW-based fun car that avoids some of Dune Buggy Street Legal, Parts, Kits and More eBay 1964 Volkswagen Dune Buggy. The high sides and fender lip that extends down the side of each Manx protects riders from spraying sand, and they rise and flow like waves in the ocean. Using his artistic skills, he drew up a body with curves and flares. The shells were difficult and expensive to produce, which led him to create two-piece kits that bolt to a VW platform shortened by 14." Using his knowledge of fiberglass, he created 12 "monocoques" - models where the VW mechanicals and suspension bolted directly to a fiberglass shell. He saw the potential of a Beetle-based buggy, and he created the iconic design now associated with dune buggies. He is a Navy veteran, he's built boats, shaped surfboards, and is an artist.
